At Saturday, June 30th in the Cultural Centre Čakovec, during the International animated film workshop, there was a screening of the ŠAF 77 children members. In a full cinema public saw the movies from the SAF beginners, two projections of shorter and longer movies (up to one minute). Besides this, public was able to see also the production of younger authors, and the producion of older animators with the movies that will represent us at the festivals. Complete animation was over the 30 minutes long, without the workshop movies which SAF produced in the schools and festivals (plus 15 minutes of animation). The screening was also the end of this school year’s production. New and old members can apply for the new school year in september.
Film of a SAF author Jurica Balenta, “White noise” was awarded with the 2 nd prize in the category MAXI on the 9th International animated film festival for children and youth VAFI in Varazdin. This experimental animated movie was made completely in the computer as 2d animation on fonogram. Beside awarded “White noise” selected were also other movies from the production 2017. Few authors and the SAF leaders attended the festival too.
This year’s international children film festival, KIKI from Zabok, Croatia, hosted ŠAF too. Jasminka Bijelić Ljubić, ŠAF leader, held two-days workshop in the locat children creativity club “Društvo naša djeca”. Amazing elementary schoolars, 16 of them, made on the April 21st and 22nd beautiful stop-motion animations in the combined techniques based on buttons, fabric and wool. The theme was “Children rights”, familiar to workshop participants who almost all attended educations about them before. The movie is 3,5 minutes long with original music made in “Društvo naša djeca”. It will be screened at the closing ceremony of the festival on Friday and presented by the producer of the workhsop, mrs. Jasenka Borovčak.
On Wednesday, the 25 at 17:30 ŠAF will also have a big retrospective in the Green room. This wonderful iniciative was an idea of mr. Nenad Borovčak, the director of KIKI. We hope that the other festivals for children will follow this idea and host our movies, awarded and recognised in the field of children film creativity.
There is an intensive work on SAF at the project “Saharawi”. It’s an animated movie made by ŠAF students, based on the drawings of everyday life of the children in the refugee camp in Western Sahara. It was an initiative of SAF member Dunja Franjić who made connections with the Saharawi refugee teacher. The goal was to make a movie out of the drawings and make everyday of those children more beautiful. And of course to show the film on different festivals to rise awareness of the problems Saharawi people have. …
Animated movie “The little spider / Mali pauk” was selected in the competition screenings at the Chicago International children film festival. “The little spider”, cute cut-out animation, will be shown at the festival between 27th of October and the 05th of November. Congratulations to the author!
ŠAF movie “Bradasta služba / Bearded service” made by SAF students Jana Balent, Ema Puljić (both directors,animators and colorists) and with help of Kaja Gačal (animation, coloring) won the 3rd prize at the international film festival FIFES in Zagreb. Selected among 600 movies in the group of 10 (Junior selection), this movie was made by young artists for a one school year. The girls attended the festival and received two diplomas and a statue of the festival. …
A joyful news came from Greece – SAF movies “I don’t care” (N. Jaušovec, V. Horvat, J. Doering, V. Stunković) and a music clip “Wake me up” (I. Munđar) were selected at the international festival of audiovisual creation of the european children and youth – Camera Zizanio (December the 3rd – 10th, 2016, Peloponessus).
It’s a part of the Olympia international film festival, unique in Greece, held under the principles of the international Center of the children films – CIFEJ and a European Children’s Film Association – ECFA.
On this year’s Biennal of animation Bratislava, held from 10th to 15th of October, ŠAF was introduced to the public by Edo Lukman and Jasminka Bijelić Ljubić. Edo Lukman had an honour to be the president of the Jury which judged professional films for children. Jasminka Bijelić Ljubić held the cut out animation workshop for primary and secondary schools from Bratislava and surrounding. Among this, ŠAF was introduced to the festival guests with a little retrospective in the cinema “Mladost”, on which were screened also the movies from the similar film clubs for children from France, Poland, Slovakia and Serbia. …
